Dear London.

londonmain

So I’m talking to you guys a little after my trip from New York to London to share my experience during London Fashion Week with the TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe team.

As a newbie to the beautiful city of London, I didn’t know what to expect especially when it came down to what I should wear or how I should do my hair. I decided to check out the scene and vibe the first day and thought I would go from there. Being that my style is already super laid-back as it is, I wanted to style my hair according to my wardrobe choices and the event I was attending that day.  For me, it’s important to really think about every aspect of getting ready. From the styling of my hair down to the shoes to makeup and the little details like accessories/bag because every little detail counts.

I try to keep things rather simple even if it’s just my hair. I like for my hair to match my style that I’m portraying that day! So for example, during LFW I wore a messy fishtail braid (extra texture thanks to the Sea Salt Texturising Spray from the Casual Collection!) and paired it with a pretty pair of shiny chandelier earrings to glam up a silver tailored blazer I wore with leather skinnies and boots which gave off a cool feminine glam look! On another day, I waved out my hair more than the usual and added the TONI&GUY Sculpting Powder from the Casual Collection to help add extra volume & texture. This loose wave look is the best look to style your hair when you want to wear a beanie… so I threw one on to match my casual hipster look for that day!

Working with the TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe team made me realize how important the philosophy of Hair Meet Wardrobe is. Hair has always been a huge part of my look but after being in New York and London for Fashion Week, I realized how key having your hair styled according to your look is… I think it’s not just about what you wear but how you wear it. It’s not about what you do to your hair, it’s about the confidence it gives you. I think you should be able to tell a story with your overall look and hair definitely has a big say in the story you want your audience to read. Since TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe has 4 fashion-inspired hair styling product collections – Casual, Classic, Glamour and Creative, you can style your hair to go with whatever you are wearing. Like I always say, you hair is your biggest accessory so why not use it to help complement your wardrobe?

After my first day in London, I realized that the style there was impeccable. There was something really special about how the people in London dressed and carried themselves that I found so endearing! It has been the best street style I’ve seen anywhere by far. I saw different trends on hair styles & haircuts in London that went so seamlessly with what they were wearing from boho-grunge, to classic preppy and even glam rock, there was a little bit of everything! I left feeling like chopping off my hair because I saw so many girls rocking short hair dos! Ah! Perhaps that’s my next haircut? I definitely tried to bring a little bit of their swag down with me…needless to say, I left inspired.

Next time you’re putting your outfit together, make sure to think about how to style up your hair too because it’s definitely dressing from the head down kind of situation! Have fun with it!

Take a look at some of the looks I rocked from my hair down to what I wore to a little diary of London! Be sure to follow TONI&GUY on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and you can shop the TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe products now at Target stores.

Day in the Life // L.A.

lifeofjules40

I’m always intrigued by how other peoples’ ‘day in the life’ looks like, especially those that have their own business because clearly, they can do whatever, whenever! For me, I’ve been so fortunate to do what I do and be my own boss. Everyday for me is quite different, sometimes I’ll be stuck at my office all day working on emails, deadlines, designing new tees/projects, other days I’m running around all over town doing errands, visiting showrooms, in meetings, scouting locations, and some days I can have a more laid-back day where I can go out and have an “inspiration day” as I like to call them where I go out around L.A, visit some of my favorite shops/book stores, hangout at my favorite café to jot down ideas, go shopping, buy flowers, etc. I have these “inspiration day” kind of days at least once a week and it helps me get out of any creative rut, it gets me inspired with things I see/read/buy, and it clears my mind so that I’m able to comeback to my office and feel “new” again! It’s fun!

Yesterday was my “inspiration day” because we’ve been swamped with so much work lately- especially since we were away for two weeks. I needed to go out and do a couple of my favorite things so I can feel refreshed as I have great things/projects coming up that I need to be creatively inspired for. Yesterday I did just that and I left inspired.

Take a look at a quick day in the life of where I go in L.A to feel refreshed while I trotted around wearing a few of my new goodies, Loeffler Randall bag, boyfriend jeans and Maje tee I got in London! (warning: a lot of photos!)

I love starting off my “inspiration day” at one of my favorite cafés around my neighborhood in Silver Lake- Casbah Café. They always have the cutest fruit + pastry displays!

I always have to pick up a few plants + succulents- they last longer and look so cute on the floor lined up against the brick wall in the office.

Backstage Access during London Fashion Week.

BACKSTAGEACCESS

Hi guys! So I’m back home in L.A after two weeks of being away; amazing but so tiring! I got home from rainy London a day ago and miss it terribly! It was my first time visiting the city but also attending a few shows and backstage for London Fashion Week. I was there with the amazing TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe team who worked on a couple of the most exciting shows during LFW.

On Sunday, September 15, the team and I headed to our first backstage of the day: Vivienne Westwood Red Label. It was one of the most exciting and out of the box hair & makeup looks I’ve seen all season! It was refreshing to see a look that’s so different; the hair and makeup was taken to another level. It almost felt as though it was a theatrical show for entertainment rather than a runway show- which I thought was cool. I was ecstatic to be backstage at a big show like Vivienne Westwood and capture priceless moments with hair + makeup. The inspiration behind this seasons hair was animalistic…voluminous waves that was wild & free to help complement the collection.

Mark Hampton, the Global Ambassador for TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe, was the lead stylist for the hair. He used the Glamour Volume Plumping Whip on the roots and lengths of the hair to create imposing volume and add texture! Although, the hair was much inspired by the wild life, the style was very much Glamour.

Take a look at some of my favorite backstage photos I shot for the Vivienne Westwood Red Label followed by backstage photos of Matthew Williamson:viviennebackstage5viviennebackstage6 viviennebackstage1 viviennebackstage2 viviennebackstage3 viviennebackstage7 viviennebackstage4

The final look of the VW Red Label show: so fierce!! As Mark Hampton said: ” For Vivienne Westwood Red Label this season, the look was wild and animal-like. We wanted hair with tons of volume, pinned up abstractly to create the look of a ferocious forest creature”

For my second backstage access; we headed to Matthew Williamson. Another show I was highly anticipating! The hair for this show was 70′s inspired jet-setter hair, super glamour! It was simple, elegant and glossy which I loved because I can totally see myself wearing this hair style in my everyday life!

Mark Hampton created a very soft, but voluminous look, with a gently teased crown and side parted hair that was glossy! So pretty! It definitely had a natural, effortless look which I can definitely appreciate because it’s an everyday look everyone can achieve.

Two main products that were used to achieve this look was the Glamour Volume Plumping Whip used on the roots then blow dried with a barrel brush. Mark then took sections of the hair and curled the ends of the hair with the Glamour Curling Iron . Then he followed up with a side parting to the center of the crown and teased the hair at the top of the crown for volume. He then finished off the look with the Glamour Firm Hold Hairspray to hold the style.

Take a peek at the backstage photos I shot for Matthew Williamson; the models were so pretty!

Ta-da! The final look for the Matthew Williamson show! So glamorously pretty!! The hair definitely complemented the 70′s vibe Matthew Williamson tried to bring back!

Here are some photos I shot from the actual runway I got to attend; every piece was impeccably styled; from head to toe!

Got a quick shot of the always chic Olivia Palermo! She had the coolest hair style which I think I might recreate..sorry you can’t really see the back, but it was a pony tail with two layers! She paired the pony tail with a super sleek all black outfit that looked elegant yet casual/classic for a hair meet wardrobe look!

Huge thank you to the TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe team for letting me be a part of this amazing experience with them!
