A colorful winter outfit idea

Los Angeles, CA December 24

I wore this while looking for a Christmas tree, which felt like the perfect moment for something colorful and cozy. I was in the mood to play with color and texture. I started with a yellow striped knit sweater, which instantly felt like a mood-booster, then tied an even more colorful sweater around my waist. There’s something playful yet elevated about mixing two types of knits—it might feel like too much at first, but sometimes things just click. A tip: choose two different color shades. The yellow on top feels like a buttery neutral that pairs beautifully with more colorful bold tones.

I stuck with the basics for the pants, my go-to vintage Levi’s—and the loafers brought in a slightly polished feel. I played it up even more with red socks that felt very holiday vibes. To finish the look, I went with a baseball hat that really pulled everything together in a relaxed way.

This look is really about contrast: bright knits against winter neutrals, pops of color mixed with classic pieces. Would you give this look a try?

One of my favorite parts about Christmas is shopping for the perfect Christmas tree—putting on a cute fit while sipping hot cocoa and enjoying that fresh, green Christmas tree smell.
