How I use my blue sky planner

Los Angeles, CA August 27

Designing my second planner collection with Blue Sky was an absolute dream. They’re everything I look for in a planner: practical, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely fun to use. They truly help me stay organized, but it’s the little details—like the fun features and stickers we’ve included, that make me excited to actually reach for them.

Ā If you’re wondering how I actually use my planners throughout the day, here’s a little peek at my routine, from morning to night.

You can shop the collection here or find them at Staples, both in stores and online.

The Morning Mind Dump

Before picking up my phone and checking my inbox, I sit down with a cup of coffee and reach for my planner. I use the first 10 minutes of my day to see what I have going on and write down my top three non-negotiable priorities. Getting them down on paper first really helps me remember what needs my attention.

One of my favorite features of these planners is that, in addition to a calendar, we’ve included plenty of space to jot down to-dos, goals, notes, and anything else you want to get out of your head.

Midday Reset

After a morning of meetings, calls, and school drop-offs, I turn to my notes page to jot down unexpected ideas, capture anything that comes up, and check off completed tasks. It gives me a chance to reset and start the afternoon with a clearer mind.

End of Day

This usually happens before I wrap up my workday, or right before bed if needed. I spend a few minutes reviewing what I accomplished and mapping out tomorrow’s main goals. If I need to move anything around, I can easily do that too, because unexpected things always come up.

Being able to brain-dump my to-do list, or anything else that’s on my mind, onto a page helps me truly log off and enjoy my evening without running through work tasks in my head.

These planners also make such a thoughtful gift. For the go-getter in your life, pair one with a great set of pens and a coffee gift card for a friend starting a new job or project.

They’re also great for a busy parent or student. The layouts make it easy to keep track of schedules, meals, classes, and everything in between, all while keeping their day feeling a little more organized.
