These are my beautiful parents. Immigrants from México who left everything they knew behind so my siblings and I could have a chance at something better. Their sacrifices are woven into who I am. I carry their story with me every single day and today, it feels even more important to voice it. They crossed borders for hope and dreams like every immigrant does. Now, we must cross comfort for justice. 🤍
Today and everyday, I stand up for them—and for every immigrant family living with uncertainty and fear.
My heart has been heavy with everything going on in this country- there’s so many emotions running through my mind and body that I tend to shut down and stay away from social media, but not today. Today, I will stand even taller in solidarity with my fellow immigrants to keep going- whether that’s donating to legal aid organizations, advocating for better policies, volunteering, supporting immigrant owned businesses or protesting…a little goes a long way, they will not silence us. The way this is being handled — abusing people, tearing families apart, and even killing citizens — this is not it.
We, the immigrants, are the heartbeat of this nation. The soul of this country. We will stand together and fight the fight for a better future—one where immigrants are seen, protected, and honored. 🙏🏽
I’m staying hopeful like my parents did when they first arrived here, because their story is positive and inspiring and one that hopefully can can help us get through these tough times. Like we say in my native country, Sí, Se Puede!… And together, we will. ❤️
