My favorite ways to recharge

Los Angeles, CA August 10

On lighter days, I love taking myself out on a solo date. Sometimes you need a day to just do your own thing for an hour or two—heading to a cafĆ© with headphones in, losing 20 minutes in a library, or writing your thoughts into a notebook. If you need a quick reset, here are a few low-effort things that always work for me:

Visit a coffee shop.

I love a solo coffee date. There’s something about putting together a simple outfit, ordering my favorite latte and a croissant, then sitting with a good playlist while I catch up on emails or simply people-watch. It’s one of my favorite ways to slow down without needing to dedicate an entire day to myself.

Journal for 10–15 minutes.

This is probably the habit that’s helped me the most over the years. Whether I’m feeling overwhelmed, excited, or somewhere in between, taking a few minutes to write down my thoughts always helps clear my mind.

Go for a walk.

A walk almost always helps me reset. Getting outside, even for 20 or 30 minutes, gives me a chance to clear my head and step away from whatever’s been occupying my mind. I usually come back feeling more energized, focused, and ready to tackle the rest of the day.

Browse the library or a local bookstore.

There’s something peaceful about wandering through the shelves without any particular book in mind. I love taking my time, discovering books I wouldn’t have searched for online, and eventually finding one that feels like the perfect next read. It’s one of those simple outings that never feels wasted.

Visit a museum or gallery.

I love visiting museums with friends, but going alone is a completely different experience. You naturally move at your own pace, spend more time with the pieces that catch your attention, and notice details you might otherwise overlook. It always leaves me feeling inspired.

Watch the sunset.

Whether you’re heading to the beach or finding a quiet spot in the city, watching the sunset is a simple way to unwind and end the day.
