Styling a Nautical Outfit!

Los Angeles, CA May 05

With things looking promising this Spring/Summer, I am figuring out ways to enjoy some sun by doing fun outdoor activities (all while continuing to follow CDC guidelines, ofc.) like boat rides, hikes, outdoor small gatherings, or staycations. Went on a boat ride a few weeks ago for a gf’s bday, and it was so fun and relaxing! When it comes to boat rides and warm weather, I can’t help but be drawn to nautical inspired looks. Putting together this look is easy if you have main pieces to work with. Here are some tips for making it work;

Start with a classic button down, it pairs well with almost any bottom and is a core item for any preppy look. I like to go for an oversized button down and wear it as a dress as seen here – I recommend you wear shorts underneath (denim or biker shorts) these boat rides are 100% windy, you want to be safe in case of a Marilyn moment! 😉

While you can wear an array of patterns for a nautical look, stripes are my favorite choice! Navy and white stripes are the epitome of a summer classic style and make this style pop-especially for a chic boat ride! A simple striped long sleeve paired with linen shorts screams nautical vibes.

Another core piece you’ll need and it’s my favorite secret weapon to complete this kind of look is a chunky knitted sweater! It’s the perfect piece to wear over your white button up or as a throw over your shoulders. It’s the ultimate statement to give you the perfect chic preppy boat outfit all while keeping you warm and cozy!

Hope these tips help! Shop my look below!
