The art of effortless dressing

Los Angeles, CA May 01

Lately, I’ve been leaning into a “less is more” approach to getting dressed. I find myself reaching for easy pieces, like a long-sleeve top and trousers, then thinking about how to make them feel elevated instead of basic. It really comes down to the pieces you choose and how they fit. Elements like tailored versus slouchy silhouettes, fabric quality, and small details like accessories all play a role in how the outfit comes together.

Some days, I want an outfit that’s as easy as throwing on a long-sleeve tee, but I still want to feel polished. A basic white tee always works, but if you want the look to feel more interesting, try swapping it for something with a bit more character—like the striped polo I’m wearing here. It’s still simple and easy, but adds just enough interest to feel styled.

For bottoms, it’s easy to default to denim, but switching to trousers instantly elevates the look. I especially love an oversized, slightly slouchy fit; they’re just as comfortable as jeans but feel more intentional. Investing in high-quality fabrics also makes a big difference, elevating even the most basic pieces without much effort.

From there, it’s all about the finishing touches. A sleek thong sandal pairs perfectly with oversized trousers, keeping the look minimal yet chic. Add a few simple accessories, such as earrings and sunglasses, and finish with a leather bag to pull everything together.

Style tip: a baseball cap adds that extra cool factor to a look, it instantly gives it a more relaxed, off-duty vibe and makes even the simplest outfit feel more styled and effortless.
