Toddler outfit inspiration

Los Angeles, CA June 03

One of my favorite things about being a mom is getting to style my son. I’ve always loved putting together outfits for him, but now that he’s getting older and more aware, he loves helping pick them out too. Seeing his personality come through in the things he chooses is so fun.

If you’re looking for toddler outfit inspiration, here it is. My style for him is pretty simple—comfortable, effortless, and easy to wear. I love neutral basics, pops of color, patterns, cool sneakers, and pieces that can keep up with all the running, playing, and exploring that comes with being a toddler.

I almost always go for clothing pieces designed with a relaxed, oversized look because I love the effortless vibe it gives. Oversized tees, roomy sweatshirts, and relaxed pants are my go-to pieces for him.

As much as I love styling him, I love that he’s starting to have his own opinions too. It’s been so fun finding a balance between what I pick and what he picks, and watching his little sense of style develop along the way.

I hope these outfits give you some inspiration for your own little ones.

Fun Pants

I love fun pants with cool prints like these airy bottoms—especially for lounging at home. Styled with a graphic tee for an extra playful touch. Shoes optional. Shop similar style here.

Sporty Chic

I love this little red moment. A cozy knit cardigan paired with casual shorts creates the perfect balance of sporty and playful. Finished with cool checkered Vans for a fun pop of pattern and personality. Shop similar look here.

Fresh ‘fit

The swagger is so cute with this look. Perfect for a daytime outing like a museum visit- it’s casual but still feels elevated. Cargo pants, a long-sleeve tee, a striped jacket, and a baseball cap come together for an effortlessly cool outfit. And if I’m being honest, this is a look I’d wear myself!

Tip: When styling kids, I like to keep one piece as the “statement” item (printed pants, a bold color, or a fun jacket) and let the rest of the outfit stay simple. It keeps the look playful without feeling overdone. Shop similar look here

Comfy Cool

For a day of wandering the neighborhood and making coffee stops with me, I love a pair of comfortable pants with a fun print, New Balance sneakers, a hoodie, and a baseball cap. I’m all about mixing unexpected pieces, like checkered pants with a simple gray hoodie, to keep the look effortless but interesting. Shop similar look here

The Go-To Uniform

When all else fails, this is Matisse’s go-to: jeans, a cozy knit sweater, and a baseball cap. Simple, timeless, and always cute. Shop similar look here

Neutral Vibes

I love a good neutral look. Here, we paired checkered pants in a soft neutral shade with an oversized tee and finished it off with beige clogs. Comfortable, and effortlessly cool. Shop similar look here
