Easy healthy habits to try

Los Angeles, CA February 05

Creating healthy habits, for me, is about making time for things that help you feel your best—both physically and mentally. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get swept up in the daily hustle. Between work, family, and other responsibilities, finding time for yourself can feel impossible.

There’s a common myth that self-care is selfish or self-indulgent, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Taking time for yourself has been shown to improve mental health, boost self-esteem, and reduce anxiety. When you care for yourself, you can show up better for the people around you and your everyday responsibilities.

I know it can feel hard to prioritize yourself when work or family constantly needs you. But learning how to balance instead of burn out is key to showing up as your best self. Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated—small, consistent habits can make a big difference. Below are a few simple ways I like to practice self-care and build healthy habits into my routine.

Physical Self-Care

Taking care of your body through movement can truly change how you feel. I love getting some physical activity in during the morning, it sets the tone for my day. A walk around the neighborhood or to my local coffee shop, a workout class, or even a quick 5–10 minute YouTube workout all count. When my body gets moving, I’m much better at handling daily stress.

Eat Balanced, Nourishing Meals

I love sweets more than I’d like to admit, but I try to balance that by fueling my body with nutritious foods. Incorporating colorful fruits and vegetables into your meals helps ensure you’re getting a wide range of vitamins and nutrients.

Tip: Try making mealtime a no-phone zone. Slow down, savor your food, and be present, it really makes a difference.

Prioritize Restful Sleep

Consistent sleep is the foundation of my day-to-day energy and focus. I aim for at least 7 hours of sleep, going to bed early and waking up early when possible. If sleep doesn’t come easily, try meditation apps, calming nature sounds, or simple breathing exercises. And — no screen time before bed.

At-Home Spa

One of my favorite ways to unwind is creating a spa moment at home. A hot bath with essential oils or Epsom salt, a face mask, and a deep-conditioning hair treatment can feel incredibly calming. I also love doing a DIY manicure — soaking hands and feet, trimming cuticles, and applying polish for a refreshed look.

And of course, if you can book the spa day. You deserve it.

Pick Up a Hobby: Do Something Just for Fun

Making time for a hobby is an easy way to care for your mental health. Whether it’s painting, ceramics, learning an instrument, or trying something completely new, you don’t have to be good at it — you just have to enjoy it. Hobbies give your brain a break, spark creativity, and help you relax while learning something at your own pace.
